Hirosaki University Hospital

Hirosaki University Hospital was founded in 1945 as the Affiliated Hospital of Aomori Medical College and, after enduring the hardships of war, took root here in Hirosaki. For more than 80 years since then, we have supported the health and well-being of our community by providing advanced medical care and fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Today, our hospital is equipped with 35 clinical departments and 27 central clinical facilities, enabling us to provide comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions—from newborns to the elderly. Regardless of the illness, we strive to ensure that every patient can receive care with confidence, working collaboratively across departmental boundaries in our daily clinical practice.

Our mission is to deliver safe and high-quality medical care, to address healthcare challenges in collaboration with regional medical institutions, to educate and train future healthcare professionals, and to promote research that contributes to the advancement of medicine. In particular, as a government-designated advanced treatment hospital, which serves as the “last line of defense” for regional healthcare, we bear a significant responsibility to provide highly specialized and advanced medical treatment for patients with severe or complex conditions.

We offer a wide range of highly specialized services, including complex surgeries involving multidisciplinary collaboration, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular treatments utilizing hybrid operating rooms, pediatric hematology-oncology care, robotic-assisted surgery, organ transplantation, and sports medicine. Our Advanced Emergency and Critical Care Center also plays a vital role in supporting emergency medical services across the northern Tohoku region. In addition, we function as a key center for radiation emergency medicine, contributing to a broader regional healthcare system.

However, what we value above all is not only the advancement of medical care, but also compassionate, patient-centered care. We listen carefully to each patient’s concerns, stand alongside them in times of uncertainty, and endeavor to provide an environment in which they can receive treatment with peace of mind.

Looking ahead, we will continue to provide high-quality medical care grounded in safety, while advancing the development of new medical technologies and the training of healthcare professionals. All of us at our hospital are committed to sincere and continuous efforts to ensure that every patient who visits us feels, “I am glad I came here.”

We warmly welcome your feedback and suggestions. We sincerely appreciate your continued understanding and support.
